Madrid, New Mexico based artist Alicia Stewart has
developed a deep love for art from a young age. She creates artwork inspired by dreams, stories and vivid
imagination. Her work is primarily figurative oil painting done in the 7 layer flemish Dutch style with a hint of mystery, wonder and horror. Another one of her passions is story-telling in the form of film, sound and writing which she uses to accompany her paintings and narrate the story of the girls, often disturbed, she carefully depicts.
Alicia Stewart began showing her work in Galleries such as Metallo Gallery in Madrid, New Mexico and Pop Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico from the age of thirteen and just recently had her first solo exhibition also in Metallo Gallery. Now,
at age fifteen, Alicia has won numerous art-related honors and awards,
including having her art featured on the back of the Santa Fe City bus, winning 1st place in the state of New Mexico in the Lion’s Club
International Peace Poster Contest and winning the Budding Artist Fellowship award, as well as several other contests
and awards.
She hopes for the viewers of her work to find their own stories within her paintings and discover the beauty and meaning of the commonly misinterpreted people and things all around us.
